Motivational Letter

An Example of a Motivational Letter

Upon leaving school, I considered going to University to study a generic Business degree, something I have always considered as a potential career path. However a Business degree on its own did not excite me sufficiently, so I decided to go to work and allow myself time to consider my options. I was offered a position at Myrtle House - Gallery Art+Coffee where I have worked for the last 18 months, recently being promoted to manager.

During my time working here customer service and hospitality has become a passion, one I have developed a desire to follow a career in. I feel that the last two years have been beneficial in helping me clarify my thoughts, and I have matured to a place where I’m ready to undertake a University degree. The research I have done towards this has led me to the EuroBA offered by Wittenborg University.

My main reasons for pursuing this course are the chance to combine my passion for business and customer service in one degree, with the opportunity of a challenging and rewarding career to follow in a ever changing industry. The ability to learn practically alongside study in the classroom is something that I believe benefits me and helps me to understand what I’m learning in greater depth and how to apply it. Being able to study under such highly experienced lecturers, with the majority still involved in the industry, is a huge incentive, as they have the practical and theoretical knowledge to make the course very current and relevant to someone hoping to enter the hospitality industry. The broad range of subjects which the course covers will enable me to explore a number of roles in a growing and exciting industry. This will help me to find a preferred role within this industry in which to pursue further.

The course “International Hospitality Management” offers a different emphasis to the courses available in the UK, and given that it is internationally recognised I believe would be highly advantageous to my future. Also I’m excited to be able to study under lecturers who are still active in the industries, therefore will have the practical experience along with the curriculum.

This is a unique opportunity to study my degree in a number of different European cities, sampling different cultures and meeting people from different backgrounds. This is something that really excites me. My reasons for wanting to study in the Netherlands are the opportunity to do my studying within a world renowned higher education system. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to study in a different country and having to immerse myself in a different culture. The chance to live independently abroad is a challenge. I am an individual who thrives on facing challenges and meeting new people; this is one I look forward to meeting head on. As someone who wants to experience as much of the world as possible, I am looking forward to the possibility of being able to spend a small amount of my life in the Netherlands.
