Background

John Canning, PhD, Senior Lecturer, is an experienced academic with over 20 years in Higher Education. He currently works at Kingston University London as Director of Kingston Academic Practice Standards (KAPS), where he supports new and experienced educators in achieving their AdvanceHE Fellowships. In addition to his teaching at Wittenborg, Canning previously worked at the University of Southampton and the University of Brighton. His research interests include student voice, quality regimes, and disciplinary identity, with his work published in international journals such as Studies in Higher Education, Teaching in Higher Education, and Quality in Higher Education. Canning holds a BA (Hons) in Geography from Aberystwyth University, an MSc in Society and Space, and a PhD in Geography from the University of Bristol. He is a Senior Fellow of AdvanceHE (SFHEA) and a Fellow of the Staff and Educational Development Association (FSEDA).
