Wittenborg Research Centre Hosts Insightful Periodical Meeting

Research Centre Shares Key Academic Updates and Collaborative Opportunities 

On 26 November, the Wittenborg Research Centre held its latest periodical meeting, where more than 20 academic leaders and faculty members gathered online to discuss new developments, announcements and collaborative opportunities. 

Jian Liu, Erasmus+ Project Administrator & Researcher, explained the purpose of the meeting: “The event provided updates on key research and academic initiatives at Wittenborg, announced new roles and achievements of faculty members, and explored collaboration and publishing opportunities." 

One of these updates included a presentation by Adeyemi Banjo, Senior Lecturer & MBM (Master of Business Management) Programme Coordinator at Wittenborg, who shared insights from his research journey as part of the Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) programme at Audencia Business School. Banjo’s presentation highlighted the progress and relevance of his research, emphasising how it aligns with Wittenborg’s mission and contributes to the broader academic community. 

Ron Tuninga, Rector at Wittenborg, announced his new role as Senior Associate Editor at the Journal of Global Marketing. This achievement marks a personal milestone for Tuninga. He also revealed plans for a publishing strategy workshop in January and highlighted opportunities for faculty to contribute to the journal. 

Open Research Amsterdam 

Ad Kil, Professor of Applied Sciences, presented the objectives of the Open Research Amsterdam project, a platform dedicated to fostering transparency and interdisciplinary collaboration. He emphasised the alignment between the project’s goals and Wittenborg’s vision, inviting faculty to engage in collaborative publications and network-building activities. 

Associate Editor Appointment 

Yasmina KhadirPoggi, Assistant Professor of Applied Sciences, shared the exciting news of her appointment as Associate Editor at The Bottom-Line Journal, a leading multidisciplinary international journal known for its focus on innovation, sustainability, and value creation. The journal explores cutting-edge research across managerial, organisational, and societal dimensions, making it an attractive platform for faculty contributions. As a signatory of DORA, The Bottom-Line Journal offers rigorous peer review and rapid publication. KhadirPoggi encouraged submissions on innovative business practices, sustainability, and interdisciplinary challenges, while inviting faculty to engage as peer reviewers. 

New Projects at Wittenborg 

Research Centre Manager, Aydan Holtrigter, further spoke in detail about several new and ongoing projects at Wittenborg: 

  • Erasmus+ Outgoing Staff Mobility: The Staff Mobility Project KA131 offers staff members enriching global experiences. This initiative supports lifelong learning, professional development, and collaboration in diverse cultural settings. Holtrigter highlighted the opportunity to teach, receive training, and contribute to the internationalisation of Wittenborg. 

  • TourXpeRience: A four-year project focused on promoting entrepreneurial teaching and learning in tourism education. 

  • Busy Bees: A business game methodology supporting the twin transition in higher education, with teaching and training activities already underway. 

  • Green4ADU: A project promoting green learning pathways to enhance adult wellbeing and awareness. 

According to Liu, the announcement of the TourXpeRience and BusyBees projects sparked interest in how these initiatives could contribute to entrepreneurial education and sustainability.  

He also said that overall, the meeting showcased Wittenborg's diverse and impactful initiatives: 

"The upcoming workshop on publishing strategy and the opportunities to contribute to high-profile journals were particularly inspiring. It’s encouraging to see a strategic alignment of individual and institutional goals, fostering both personal development and institutional visibility." 

The meeting concluded with areminders to schedule the next session on 21 January 2025.
