Meet Mohammed Abubaker
Described as kind, loyal, honest, and positive, Mohammed Abubaker from Libya is currently studying at Wittenborg where he is pursuing an IBA (International Business Administration) degree with a specialisation in Financial Services Management. Previously, he studied Banking and Finance at Eastern Mediterranean University in Cyprus.
Mohammed has a passion for finance, stating “I chose this programme because of my deep interest in understanding how financial systems operate and how strategic financial management contributes to business success.” He values the vibrant, progressive environment of the Netherlands, which aligns with his desire for an internationally oriented education.
At Wittenborg, Mohammed has developed essential skills, including financial analysis, risk management, leadership, problem solving and adaptability in multicultural environments. “By assisting various teams [in the past], I gained a deeper understanding of how different departments within an organisation function and contribute to overall success.”
During his role as a support office assistant, Mohammed encountered challenges that required quick learning and adaptation. He recalls, “I had to familiarise myself with the finance department’s processes, reporting requirements at short notice, which greatly enhanced my problem-solving abilities.”
Looking ahead, Mohammed aims to build a successful career in the financial services industry, aspiring to roles such as financial analyst, risk manager, or financial consultant within multinational corporations or financial institutions. “I want to contribute to a dynamic organisation that values innovation and data-driven decision making,” he explains.
