Human Resource Management

There are two different Human Resource Management modules in the Full-Time Action Learning MBA programme:

1st HRM module:

HRM has become an increasingly important part of management in organisations due to demographic changes in the work force, increased global competition, dynamic work systems, and increased governmental policies on work force issues. This module has three central themes: analyzing theoretical perspectives to understand the role of HRM in organisational effectiveness, systematic analysis to understand strategically managing the organisation’s work force, and issues in implementation of these HRM policies and practices to achieve competitive advantage through people.

This module will provide you with essential knowledge in theory and practice of HRM, the changing nature of employment and labor relations, HRM’s strategic importance to business, the internal and external challenges affecting HR policies and practices, the evolving role of strategic HRM in today’s organisations, the strategic role of HR functions, the impact of technology and global competition, the Uniform Guidelines, Adverse Impact, and Affirmative Action Programs that affect staffing, and job analysis, HR planning, recruitment, and selection.

2nd HRM module:

People form the core of every organisation. Regardless of what the labor market looks like: good people are unique, hard to find, and almost irreplacable. These human resources should be fully exploited. Personal and organisational objectives should be integrated. In this module, you will gain insight into the role of HRM within an organisation. You will learn the difference between classic staff management and HRM, get to know the leading HRM models - such as the Harvard and Michigan models - and the variety of tools which can be used, and learn how HRM strategies can support organisational strategies.
