Largest Antiques and Curios Market of the Netherlands Taking Place in Apeldoorn
The annual antique market to be held on Marktplein 27 July and 10 August
Apeldoorn is about to host a special event: the Apeldoorn Antiques and Curios Market on Marktplein. After the first day of this edition took place on 13 July, Marktplein will again be completely transformed into a paradise for antiques enthusiasts on 27 July and 10 August. This highly anticipated event marks the grand opening of the largest antiques and curios market of the Netherlands and promises a wealth of delights with almost 300 stalls full of historical artefacts, unique collectibles and rare finds.
For fervent collectors and antique lovers, this market offers a golden opportunity to discover hidden gems and unique treasures. The selection is endless and there is something for everyone. Market vendors offer antique furniture, vintage clothes, rare books and cards and a vast array of other products that will overwhelm visitors. The diverse range of stalls caters to every taste and interest, with an impressive assortment of items from different eras and cultures. The Antiques and Curios Market is a well- known and respected event that even crosses national borders. Visitors and stalls come not only from the Netherlands, but also from nearby countries such as Belgium and Germany.
The experience of visiting Marktplein goes far beyond browsing among the stalls. The atmosphere prevailing in the square is simply magical as visitors are immersed in a lively ambience. The market offers not only a chance to find remarkable treasures, but also an opportunity to enjoy a wonderful day out with friends and family, strolling the cobbled streets, sipping a cup of coffee and the joy of discovering something very special. Besides interesting and beautiful antique merchandise, there are plenty of stalls selling delicious food to the tired and hungry visitor wandering the stalls.
Wittenborg Marketing and Communications Administrator Bishal Bhandari was at the market a couple of years ago and was overwhelmed with what he saw. "It was fantastic! It was very crowded, but there was so much to see,” he recalls enthusiastically. "I saw antique items from long ago, for instance old rotary dial telephones used 100 years ago, old designer guitars and antique pottery. There were even figurines and ornaments you could put in your home. You could get anything you wanted and it offers something of interest to everyone."
Vintage products and art are respected and beloved items within the Wittenborg family. Students and staff decorate their work and living spaces with items purchased from local thrift stores. In addition to reappreciating the beauty that vintage objects can have, the growing interest in second-hand also values responsible manufacturing and consumption, because it is not always necessary to throw things away the moment they seem to lose their value to their owners.
The market is free to enter from 09:00 to 16:30. Feel free to come and discover Apeldoorn's antiques. Click here for more information on this annual festive market in Apeldoorn.
