Meet the New Corporate Face of Wittenborg

Meet the New Corporate Face of WittenborgWUAS has a new external relations officer.

Bert Meeuwsen, senior lecturer at Wittenborg and head academic supervisor, has been appointed in the position, effective from 1 October. He will take over some of the duties of Adrianne Jonquiere-Breure, Wittenborg’s work placement coordinator who also handled external relations.

Wittenborg CEO, Maggie Feng, said Meeuwsen will focus on growing a firm external network in the professional field towards the further development of Wittenborg. “He will be the corporate face of Wittenborg.”

Meeuwsen, who joined Wittenborg in 2016, has an MBA and Master degree in Education. He has more than 30 years of experience in international business with commercial and non-profit organisations and is well-versed in cross-cultural education.

He expressed a lot of enthusiasm for his new role: “Wittenborg students have the possibility of obtaining adequate working experience on a Bachelor level within various organisations in the Netherlands and abroad. These practical educational activities are to the benefit of the student as well as the organisation they are active in.”

With some exceptions, Wittenborg’s Bachelor Degree Programmes generally require students to do an internship in the 3rd year of their studies. Students doing a Bachelor in Hospitality Management (BHM) programme have to do an extra 12-week work placement period, the so-called in-company training, on top of the normal internship of around 5 months.

The goal of the internship is to allow students to apply and supplement the knowledge they have acquired during their academic training, so that students can learn skills that will prepare them for their professional activities, make them more employable, and promote their entrepreneurial abilities.
